Legislators from the European Parliament’s Agriculture Committee have rejected part of the Commission’s proposed aid programme for wine, fruit and vegetable producers, saying it is not ambitious enough to cope with the disruption caused by the pandemic.
This decision will be confirmed or not by the EP plenary session in July, in accord with the Commission’s willingness to add new measures to increase the relevance of the programme.
However, COMAGRI has made it clear that distillation is an essential measure to avoid an imbalance in the EU wine market.
