The Wine Charter

Drafting a common code of deontology was one of the first tasks undertaken by AREV: winegrowing regions implement a policy of self-discipline, based primarily on improving quality through authenticity, in other words by defending and promoting wines of origin.

Adopted unanimously in 1991 by all of the European winegrowing regions, the Charter constitutes a background paper, both for official institutions and for economic players and consumers, compiling in a single document the basic points of the European moral code for wine and vinegrowing.

Defending and promoting:

- controlled apellations

- the quality and authenticity of wines

- consumer rights

- wine’s cultural image
